Because we are a community
In July we mark Social Services Sunday, when we consider how we are called to show our faith and our love for others in practical ways. Today we will hear about the work of the City Mission as we welcome the City Missioner, Corinne Haines, as our preacher. Everyone has heard of the Mission but today we get to hear of all the ways in which they help the less fortunate of our community.
Because we are a community it falls to us to help those in need and the Mission has many ways in which we can help.
Some of us put groceries in the basket at St Mark’s on a Sunday to stock the Food Bank and others help with the cooking at the Night Shelter. Those are just two of the ways in which we can support the City Mission, who work on our behalf, and there will be others that might just suit you.
Talk to Corinne or look at the City Mission website and explore the opportunities to express our Christian love for others in a practical way.
From the Vicar
It’s a psalm in which nothing is hidden from God, and God is found in the midst of the distress as well as in the deliverance from it.
It’s a chance to share thoughts and ideas on the topic, and discuss in a small group. There’s no obligation to say anything and there’s nothing you can’t say.
In 1990, and with the inclusion of the Diocese of Polynesia, the Anglican Church formed a new constitution, Te Pouhere, that would bind us together as one church in Christ, yet living in Three Tikanga or cultural streams.
